CPF Toronto is your chance to train agents on how to promote and recruit students to your institution and programs. To help make your session memorable, please follow the suggestions below.
Step 1: Define the purpose of your session
Before designing your presentation, clarify your purpose. A successful agent training session should:
· Motivate agents
· Offer actionable strategies
· Foster collaboration and idea-sharing
· Provide training that improves skills
· Reinforce the value of your institution
Step 2: Plan with engagement in mind
School presentations are often repetitive, and agents lose interest quickly. Here’s how to design a session that keeps agents actively involved:
A. Keep it short and focused
· Each session is 30 minutes to help maintain energy and focus
· Pick a single, impactful theme or topic for your session
B. Incorporate storytelling
· Share real-world success stories from your students, staff, faculty and industry
· Highlight students or staff who have overcame challenges or hit major milestones
C. Make it interactive
· Encourage agent participation through role-playing, group discussions and brainstorming
· Use tools like polls, quizzes or games to make learning fun
· Get agents involved by asking open-ended questions
D. Tailor the content
· Address specific challenges agents are facing, such as objections they commonly hear or difficulty converting prospects
Step 3: Build a strong structure for your agent training
An effective training session has a clear flow. Below is a suggested framework for your session based on how adults learn and retain information:
A. Icebreaker (5 minutes)
· Start with something light and fun to set the tone
· Example: Ask agents to share a student success story or recent sales win
B. Address challenges (10 minutes)
· Invite the group to share obstacles they have encountered
· Facilitate a collaborative discussion to brainstorm solutions
· Discuss and celebrate winning strategies in different markets
C. Deliver training content (10 minutes)
· Focus on one key skill, such as handling objections, upselling or improving closing techniques
· Use a mix of training methods, such as a case study, demonstration or game
D. Wrap-up (5 minutes)
· Measure learning with a fun quiz with prizes
· Set actionable goals with specific and measurable tasks
· Invite agents who have questions to stay or meet later during the breaks
